the municipal area of salurn is laying in the river etsch_adige valley between the dolomites at the south border of italy's region south tirol. the location is particular as beeing this since ever the borderline of nativ speaking german (austrian) people and native speaking italian people. this place is called the salurner klause-chiusa di salorno (hermitage), where the two mountains form the bottleneck and river etsch_adige is sneaking through. the municipal area is composed by the main village salurn_salorno and the two secondary villages buchholz_pochi and gfrill_cauria.
